What the event aims to do

Many people who care about animals have not gone much further than changing their diet. Yet our career, time and money are among the biggest levers we have for helping animals, especially when we think strategically about where they can do the most good.

  • Reach new people. Students and professionals new to animal advocacy or effectiveness thinking, or who have not yet put their skills to use.
  • Show the range of pathways. Jobs, career switches, volunteering and donating, across many organizations.
  • Create first connections. Attendees meet organizations, professionals and a large group of like-minded peers, often for the first time.
  • Turn interest into action. Everyone leaves with concrete next steps and is pointed to follow-up support, such as career coaching, online programs and local communities.

Existing programs mostly serve people already active in or familiar with the farmed animal advocacy movement. We offer a low-threshold entry point for those who are not yet.

What you would organize

As a team, you organize a half-day event in your city in mid-June 2027 for about 80 attendees, from start to finish. It largely follows our earlier format: talks from people with effective animal careers, an organizations fair and a career-planning workshop. If your team thinks 150 attendees is feasible, we are open to exploring this.

  • Identify the career directions and organizations most relevant in your region, and build a program of speakers and exhibitors around them.
  • Build relationships with local organizations, groups and communities that can contribute or help spread the word.
  • Promote the event, attract participants and select them on fit, so the right people are in the room.
  • Make sure everything runs smoothly on the day, with the help of volunteers.

How we support you

The international team takes care of much of the groundwork, so you can focus on making the event a success in your city.

What you get out of it

  • Experience. Event organizing, project management and partnership building, with a concrete result to show: an event you co-led as part of an international organization.
  • Knowledge of the movement. An inside view of the organizations, career paths and strategies in the field, in your country and beyond.
  • A network. Connections with impactful organizations, speakers and professionals, and with fellow organizers in other countries.
  • A value-aligned team. Enthusiastic people who share your values, in your local team and across cities.
  • A stipend. €2,500 per team for an 80-person event, or €3,500 for 150 attendees.

Who we are looking for

Each event is organized by a team of three (or four). You can apply on your own or together with others: we select individuals and then form the teams, but if you apply with people you want to organize with, we weigh that heavily. We are looking for people who:

  • live in or near Berlin, Brussels, London or Vienna;
  • have organized events and/or done community organizing before;
  • are familiar with the animal advocacy and/or effective altruism space;
  • are generalists who can work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends.

Time commitment

We expect around 4 hours per week per person on average: less at the start, more in the run-up to the event. Teams meet about every two weeks at first, and more often in the last six weeks.

Because your teammates count on you, please apply only if you have this time available for most of the period from the end of January to the end of June 2027.
